Harte Civil in partnership with Bam Civil Engineering under took all drainage and utility works as part of the construction of the Newlands Cross flyover. The regarding of this junction was of national importance as the new flyover eliminated the last set of traffic lights on a route linking Belfast to Cork.
The works required extensive liaising and co-operation with all utility providers due to the massive nest of utilities involved. Sequencing of the works were also critical to minimise the impact on traffic at this junction.
Advanced excavation techniques were used to locate existing utilities and excavate around them. Harte’s also secured further contracts for the earthworks and formation of the temporary diversion route and laying all the footpaths at the new fly over.
